This hands-on course is designed to meet the needs of speech-language pathologists serving school-age children with various communication difficulties by providing them with original and exciting ways to motivate and teach students. Creative ideas will be shared on how to put new spins on traditional speech-language therapy by introducing various iPad apps and other web-based technologies that revolve around the iPad.
Participants will be involved in discussions related to skills and foundational knowledge. There will also be numerous prize giveaways throughout this course to ensure that this workshop is one of the most exciting educational experiences ever!

Presenter: Dr. Erik X. Raj, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Dr. Erik X. Raj holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech- Language-Hearing Association and has been a practicing speech-language pathologist who works daily with school-age children with various communication difficulties. He is currently an assistant professor and clinical supervisor in the Department of Speech Pathology, Educational Counseling, and Leadership at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
Dr. Erik X. Raj regularly presents interactive workshops demonstrating how school-based speech-language pathologists can use technology to motivate and teach students on their caseload. In addition to developing numerous top-ranking educational iPad apps for children, he has also directed the DVD component to the award-winning speech-language pathology book titled ‘Your Voice is Your Business’ by Plural Publishing and has created original video content for such television networks as MTV and mtvU.
Dr. Erik X. Raj has obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Stockton University in New Jersey and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Misericordia University in Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Following this workshop, participants will be able to:
· Identify iPad apps that are appropriate to use with children in speech-language therapy.
· Use iPad apps to assist children with practicing numerous speech and language goals.
· Summarize unique digital motivational strategies to help children become more effective communicators.
· Demonstrate different ways to appropriately introduce audio-visual materials (e.g., YouTube clips) into speech-language therapy.
