Creating Safe and Supportive Urban Learning Environments for Children and Families
A two part series designed for practicing educators and human services personnel led by Novella Hinson, Chief of Staff to the Mayor, City of Camden. This is an opportunity for educators to learn how to create and sustain safe supportive learning environments for children that combine best practices with lessons learned by public private partnership initiatives in the City of Camden.
Ms. Novella Hinson has more than 30 years’ experience leading efforts to support children and families in the City of Camden. Ms. Hinson has also helped Camden’s economic growth and development; was instrumental in the city being selected as a Promise Zone community; worked with the Camden County Police Department for major public safety changes in Camden; and she is heavily involved in working with the City’s youth programs.
Participants will be given time to interact and role play common classroom and community scenarios. This opportunity will allow educators to:

- School and community connectedness
- Family engagement
Registration includes light morning refreshments and a certificate for professional development hours from Rowan University.
